    Evenings of Apologetics

Apo-logia means reasons for. Apologetics has the same origin as evangelism: obedience to a divine command. Rekindling the Flame Retreats

The Rekindle the Flame Retreat is a one day retreat offered once a year for all past retreatants.  A speaker or speakers present on various topics of Catholic Faith that lead to deeper intimacy with the Lord. These are usually topics that touch the heart more than the head and lend themselves to sharing the faith journey with others.  Opportunities for Eucharistic Adoration, the Sacrament of Reconciliation and celebration of Mass are usually included.

At the end of these events, anyone who has made a retreat who is not currently in a community but would like to join one is welcome. Our next Rekindling the Flame retreat will be held in Spring 2010.

Adult Sacraments and Rite Of Christian Initiation

Adults (and older teens) interested in becoming Catholic, in preparing to receive the sacraments of Holy Eucharist or Confirmation, or in learning more about the Catholic faith tradition, are invited to call the Pastoral Center at 815-455-5400, ext. 402.

The typical process for meeting these needs is the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (R.C.I.A.). The  program year begins early September. Meetings will be held in the lower level of the Oak Street Church most Sunday mornings (after the 9:00 a.m. Mass), until about 10:30-11:30 a.m. Sacraments are conferred at the Easter Vigil Mass.
