Extra-ordinary Minister of Holy Communion at Mass
Assist the clergy in the distribution of Holy Communion at
weekend Masses and special liturgies. Training and
commissioning are required.
Extra-ordinary Ministers of Holy Communion to the
Sick
Take the Eucharist to the homebound, hospitalized and those in
nursing homes. Extra-Ordinary
Ministers must be Confirmed, at least years of age, in a valid
marriage, single, divorced or widowed. Training and commissioning are required.
Lectors
Two
lectors at each Mass proclaim the scripture readings and assist
with parish announcements and the prayers of the faithful.
Auditions and training are required.
Ushers
Volunteers greet, take up the collection, recruit people to
carry up the gifts, assist special needs parishioners and
distribute bulletins after Mass.
Sacristans
Liturgical preparation before Mass and assist priest in the
sacristy. Training is provided.
Cantors
Lead the song at all liturgies. New cantors are expected to
enter a period of training with the music minister and a
co-cantor.
Altar Servers
Open to boys and girls 5th grade and older. Training
sessions take place in the fall.
Environment and Art
Volunteers are
workers and artists who decorate the church. Help is needed from
design, sewing, assembling Christmas trees to ironing, hammering
a nail and climbing a ladder. Meetings are held periodically
through the year.
Family Mass
Mass for families is offered during the school year in the
St. Mark portion of the Community Center, Oak Street Church, at
10:30 am. Volunteers assist in planning, as gift-bears, lectors
and ushers.
C.L.O.W.--Children's Liturgy of the Word
Children age 5 to First Communion reception age, are dismissed
from the 4:30 Saturday Mass after the opening prayer and return
at the Offertory. Volunteers assist as readers, leaders,
cantors and ushers. Call 815.455.9787 x407 to volunteer.
Ministry to the Hearing Impaired
Interpreter provided for the 10:30 Sunday Mass and special
occasions.
Adult Choir
A
four part chorus open to singers of Confirmation age and older,
sings at the 9:00 Sunday Mass and for special liturgies and
concerts throughout the year. Rehearsals are on Wednesdays from
7:00 to 9:00 pm. Interested people should meet with the
director ahead of time to determine their vocal range.
Resurrection Choir
Volunteers come together to sing for funerals. Funerals are
generally between 10:00 am and 12:00 noon. on weekday mornings
and Saturdays.
Contemporary Ensemble
Music ministry for the 10:30 am Sunday Mass includes vocalists
and instrumentalists of all ages. Rehearsals are on Thursdays
from 7:30 – 9:30 pm. Audition required.
Praise & Worship Ensemble
Junior and senior high school youth and their families and youth
ministry workers sing at the 5:30 pm Sunday Mass following a
4:30 pm rehearsal.
Children’s Choir
Open to children from grades 2 thru 6. They sing once a month
at the Family Mass and at special liturgies throughout the
year. Rehearsals are on Thursdays at 4:00 - 5:20 pm.
Without a Doubt Ensemble
Teens (grades 7 through High School) are invited to share in
this musical group which will alternate between the Noon and
5:30 pm Sunday liturgies. Rehearsals will take place one
hour before Mass.
Keyboard—Organ and Piano
Volunteers are in great demand to accompany the cantors and
choirs at all weekend and special liturgies.
Instrumentalists—Band & Orchestral
Rehearsals are held with the group volunteers play with. The
orchestra rehearses weekly from 7:00 – 9:00 pm for several weeks
before Christmas, Easter and prior to special concerts and
liturgies.
Handbells
Small groups of 5 or full choirs of up to 12 ringers-men & women
welcome! Rehearsals are on Wednesdays from 6:00 – 7:00 pm.
